What
is Alpha?
A Model for Dynamic Outreach in the
Local Church!
The Alpha course is a ten-week practical introduction
to the Christian faith. It is designed primarily for
non-churchgoers and those who have recently become Christians.
Dear Friends,
The Alpha Course is being used successfully around
the world and here in Spokane to introduce contemporary
secular people to the Christian faith. It is an excellent
match for many of our congregations, enabling members
to invite friends and coworkers to a non-threatening
small group meal and dialogue. Attendees learn enough
about the Christian faith to want to follow Christ.
We are privileged to have the Alpha Course training
conference coming to:
First Presbyterian Church in Spokane on
May 17-18, 2001.
The training gives enough information to set up and
run and Alpha Course. Some pastors and leaders come
to hear about the course before deciding to implement
it. Other congregations are ready to send their start
up team to be trained for a fall launch.

for the Spokane training, please visit

A number of Spokane congregations have used the Alpha
Course. There are some thrilling testimonies coming
from their groups. The following are on the Alpha register:
First Presbyterian, First Assembly, Life Center, King's
Community, Knox Presbyterian, First Church of the Open
Bible, St Stephen's Episcopal and the Vineyard Christian
Fellowship.
I hope someone from your congregation will be able
to attend the training and bring back a report.
