Report
on Geroge Otis Presentation to the Church of
Spokane
Seeing our community transformed" with
George Otis Jr. was an evening we will not soon
forget. We heard about towns and regions where
God sovereignly showed up and everything changed.
What a hunger for God developed as we heard
these accounts of transformed communities. Humility
and holiness became more important too us as
we thought together about what attracts the
presence of God.
There was a great impact on the pastors prayer
retreat the following week. Humility and hunger
as well as pure worship were the order of the
day. We moved into an intimate encounter with
our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.
The coming "Together
for the Harvest" on October 27th, a
Mission Spokane transformation update, will
also reflect the vision of transformation that
we received on September 28th.
Audio tapes of George Otis Jr. are available
for $5.00. Videotape orders are being taken
for production and distribution in the next
several weeks. Contact Glen Weber at pastorglen@integrityonline4.com
for the tapes.

the kind of transformation we would like to experience

He will emphasize the things that encourage
the presence of God. And he will invite us all to
join together to see our community transformed by
the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Would you be willing to put this
date (September 28, 2000) on your calendar and invite
the rest of your church leadership to join you?
While you are marking your calender,
please also write in October

Transformations,
the video
Four transformed cities are featured
in Transformations: A Documentary, the video
produced by George Otis Jr. and The Sentinel Group.
Their stories bring the Old Testament revivals, the
New Testament outpourings and the historic Great Awakenings
off the pages of history and onto the front page of
today's television news. The video's impact has been
great on everyone who has seen it.
"Imagine a community where 92 percent
of the population is born-again; where city jails
have been closed for lack of crime; where agricultural
productivity has reached biblical proportions.
"Imagine a city where 60,000 Christians
jam the municipal soccer stadium for all-night prayer
vigils every 90 days; where a multi-billion dollar
drug cartel has been brought to its knees.
"Imagine a town where local bars have
been transformed into churches; where ancestral shrines
have been destroyed; where entire family clans have
come to faith in Christ.
"Don't imagine...BELIEVE! Journey with
host George Otis, Jr. to transformed communities on
three continents. Learn how the power of prayer can
deliver similar results in your own neighborhood."
Most of those who see the video ask,
"Why couldn't the same good things happen here? What
can we do to invite the Lord to change our community?"
In the course of the video, George
points out the five characteristics that almost all
of the transformed communities have in common:
- Persevering leadership
- Fervent, united prayer
- Diagnostic research
- Social reconciliation
- Public power encounters
|
He defines community transformation
as "a condition of dramatic socio-political renewal
that results from God's people entering into corporate
vision, corporate repentance and corporate prayer."
Mission Spokane would like Spokane to be on the list
of communities and whole regions around the world
that are being transformed by the presence and impact
of our Lord Jesus Christ.
