Church of Spokane Ministry Opportunities
(Revised after February 15, 2000 meeting)

Opportunities for using spiritual gifts or God-given talents:

Prayer Ministries:

Prayer:
a. Developing and presenting prayer conferences and training sessions on Lighthouses, Spiritual Warfare, Intercession, etc.
b. Planning and promoting annual Pastors Prayer Summit and semi-annual Pastors Prayer Retreats.
c. Facilitating and attending weekly Pastors prayer at UGM
d. Encouraging and training in congregation to congregation prayer (congregations praying for each other)
e. Training and leading prayer walking of all neighborhoods

Lighthouses:
Team responsible for developing, mapping, encouraging Lighthouses throughout the county. Provide training in praying, caring and sharing. Also to communicate testimonials, etc. with present lighthouses so they are encouraged.

Intercessors:
Teams of people from every area of the county/city who will bring together others to pray in focused ways for needs of the city. Connecting to connecting to Dan Grether, Sandi Fulton, Juanita Oswald, and Intercessors For Spokane so that we have a constant army of people in the battlefield.

Administration Ministries:

Vision Casting:
Team to take the vision received by the Servant Leaders team to congregations, congregational boards, Bible studies, prayer groups, etc. Using Power Point presentations and other methods to cast the vision to as many people throughout the county as possible.

Leadership:
People with a burden to serve on the Servant Leaders team or other leadership positions (such as Facilitators of some of these teams)[lay people are encouraged to be team Facilitators]. Finding, training and equipping other leaders.

Fundraising:
A team of people to be responsible to raise funds from the community, church and individuals. This team would also be responsible to write grants and report back to foundations upon the receipt of a grant.

Public Celebrations:
Team to organize and plan various public celebrations for worship and sharing what God is doing across the county.

Connecting Ministries:

Communications:
Church: This team communicates to three levels of the Church:
a.) within the Servant Leader Team;
b.) to the envisioned Ministry Teams and congregations;
c.) to the greater Body of Christ.

Team to develop and facilitate email, web page and other ways of communicating goals, vision, prayer needs, prayer answers, new initiatives, etc within the Church of Spokane. This team would also facilitate communication from each of the various ministry points to all other appropriate ministry points.

Community: Team responsible for promotion and advertising for various public celebrations, evangelistic outreaches, prayer training conferences, etc. Team would also communicate with those outside the Church of Spokane - (eventually) including the media and others. This team would focus on providing vision, announcements and information to schools, all levels of government, secular service agencies and organizations, media outlets and the business community.

Networking:
Recruitment: Team to bring together various groups to become a part of the Church of Spokane - reaching to pastors, elders and people with specific giftings. Team will network servant ministries (parachurch), congregations and resources. Team is also responsible to network various groups of individuals together when there is a need in a specific area - tragedies, specific needs in a community (cleanup neighborhoods, evangelism or whatever).

Resourcing: Team brings together information and resources from the entire church. This would involve building and updating a church-wide database (on web page), directories, Harvest software and having available information important to the entire Body.

Marketplace:
Team to outreach to the marketplace - businessmen, companies, trades people, industry and all others who could be involved in supporting the city reaching effort. Facilitating prayer groups, prayer breakfasts, fund raisers and other activities motivated by God through prayer.

Church Growth Ministries:

Evangelism:
Team to pray for direction regarding how to evangelize the city as one church, rather than many churches. Training people with gift of evangelism from many congregations in ways to most effectively work together to reach the city.

Discipling:
Team to develop the best ways to follow up new converts. Training people from all congregations so that there is a solid follow up with new believers. Also following up with new believers from evangelistic activities and tying them into a solid church. This could begin immediately with follow up from the Good News Store, Able Ministries van, Power Team, Christmas and Easter presentations, etc.

Congregation Planting:
Team to research and advise regarding areas where new congregations are needed. Training would be provided for small groups of people who are willing to plant a new congregation. Working to help find locations (realtors, etc.), lay or paid pastors, resources to help them know where to plant, etc.

Social Ministries:

Benevolence/Compassion:
Team to be the outreach arm of the Church of Spokane - to needy neighborhoods, single parent families, etc. Team coordinates social concerns by becoming aware of areas of need, communicating to the Body and guiding solutions to the needs.

Social Systems/Structures:
Team to liaison with schools, government, business, industry in various ways that will advance the kingdom. Relaying needs of the community back to the church and also focusing ministry people in the areas where they are needed most.

Gangs/Streets:
Team to bring together ministries (para-church, congregational, etc.) reaching gangs and street kids. Also to work with the people as they come off the streets. Arranging employment, house, schooling or other needs.

Prison/Jail Aftercare:
Team to bring together human and other resources to care for families of incarcerated citizens both during incarceration and after release. Also work with the family to reintegrate back into society.

Economic Development:
Team who have a passion for working with businesses to create and maintain jobs for the needy, particularly within the downtown area as well as other areas of the county with low income levels.

Family Structure Ministries:

Children:
Team to coordinate all aspects of ministry to children from birth to teenage.

Youth:
Team to develop strong outreach programs to the youth of all ages, and ways to bring the church to them. This team would also develop youth programs for young people presently in the church - especially those who only have one to five youth in their congregation. Youth are the future of the church and this team would fold them into ministry in the church.

Family:
Team to train people throughout the church in pre-marital counseling, post-marital counseling, marriage mentoring, single parent mentors, widows, orphans and senior care, etc.

Analytical Ministries:

Research:
Team to do ongoing research about church attendance, new believers, numbers of lighthouses, etc to measure progress and spread word of God's working in the county. This team will be crucial to provide measurable results as we proceed toward the goals set out by God.

Spiritual Mapping:
Team to do research for spiritual mapping - areas of county that are darkest, least churched, etc.

Valley Project:

Team participating under the leadership of Ian Robertson, Willard McCain and Barry Foster to reach the Valley area for Jesus Christ.
